Best Way to Prepare Your Air Conditioner for The Summer
June is right around the corner, that means it is time to prep the air conditioner. Nothing stresses your air conditioner system like the hot summer heat, especially when you live the Midwest like Cahokia, Illinois where the summer’s heat index can be above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The hotter it gets, the more work your A/C must put forward. That is why it is important to make sure it is fully prepared to take on the summer season. Who knows, it might even save you a few bucks in the long run.
Suggestion #1 – Check and Change Your Filters
No one wants their clean and cool air getting filtered through the dirt and grime from last season. Changing your filters not only helps keep the air clean and comfortable, but it prevents your A/C from overworking and breaking down. One filter changes a season will keep you cool all summer long.
Suggestion #2 – Consider an Inspection
For my older A/C unit friends, this one is for you. Before starting the air conditioner up for the season call an inspector to make sure that all the components are working efficiently. If the inspector happens to catch a malfunction, you are already saving yourself from a hot (and sweaty) headache in July.
Suggestion #3 – Check and Clean Your Coils.
Just like changing your filters the coils need to be cleaned once a year before starting up. Leaving your coils dirty can render their optimal performance and can slow down your air conditioning. It is recommended that you clean the coils the same time you are changing out the filters each season.
